Despite this, we have tried our best to make coherent groups of presentations, while taking into account each participant’s time-zone we sincerely hope that you will understand the restrictions that we have been facing, and that the result will be satisfactory nonetheless to everyone. This makes having traditional panels and panels’ discussions impossible, as well as having everyone being able to assist at every presentation. This evolution (from a normal workshop, to a semi-virtual, then almost fully virtual one) has required us to considerably adapt the program, especially as we have participants from all over the World, with time-zones that range from Canada to Japan. If the Coronavirus crisis evolves negatively in January, to the point of having to quarantine, researchers living in Kansai will be, of course, asked to use the Zoom Conference system of Ryukoku University. Researchers from the Kansai area will be invited to attend physically at Ryukoku University, as they probably won’t be restricted to move around at that time, considering the distance.Researchers outside of the Kansai area – meaning not affiliated to Kansai’s universities – will have no choice but to participate via the Zoom Conference system of Ryukoku University. This is why we have no choice but to make this workshop almost fully Virtual: We both wish to make this workshop as humanly as possible, but also avoid any risk and this, of course, while following every sanitary protocols from the Japanese government and Ryukoku’s University. It is difficult to plan normally the workshop without knowing the evolution of the Coronavirus crisis in the next months, weeks, even days. ANNOUNCEMENT REGARDING THE ORGANISATION OF THE EVENT Access by Zoom: Instructions will be available here in due course. The Hunters cross paths with Baru, a young leader on a planet inhabited by four warring tribes. The story seems interesting and keeps you chugging along until the main issue is resolved, which in this case is teamwork. The pixelated and cartoon style has a fun-loving energy to it, which will keep you playing for a while with no problem. Relic Hunters: Rebels is a top-down shooter that has you play as multiple characters, battling through levels and waves of enemies. The art style is nothing but pleasant, and the characters keep you on your toes throughout. Skies of Chaos is a top-down shooter where you take on flying enemies, shooting your way through the story of Captain Campbell, an actual dogfighter. Some classic game styles just never go away. The fact that it tells its story in a way that aesthetically calls to mind Alan Moore and Bill Sienkiewicz’s 1988 collaboration Shadowplay: The Secret Team, which told some unsavory details about how the CIA conducted some real world foreign policy only adds to the eerie feel. What happens in a world where all conspiracy theories are actually true? Or that reality actually warps to accommodate new “truths” as they come into being? Such is the premise of The Department of Truth, which delivers on all the unsettling promise of its premise. James Tynion IV (Writer), Martin Simmonds (Artist) This run is shaping up to be one of the best Daredevil stories of all time, a very high bar to clear. No lie, Stilt Man has never looked this good. Jorge Fornes and Marco Checchetto have handled the bulk of the pencils this year, and their dramatically divergent styles do a great job of showing the two sides of Murdock’s world – Fornes excels at the quiet investigatory work that Daredevil does, while Checchetto blows the doors off of some monster action set pieces. The art on this run has been the real deal. What they do to him, and what Fisk does back, is incredible. But the big fish in that pond (the Stromwyns – think Marvel’s Koch Brothers) don’t much get along with someone as insignificant as Fisk. His Wilson Fisk is Hall of Fame.įisk is attempting to go legit after discovering as Mayor of New York City that there is a much larger pond he could be swimming in. Chip Zdarsky (Writer) Marco Checchetto, Mike Hawthorne, Francesco Mobili, Jorge Fornes (Artists) Marcio Menyz, Mattia Iacono, Nolan Woodard (Colorists) Clayton Cowles (Letterer)Ĭhip Zdarsky’s Matt Murdock is terrific. The rule of 1 percent, also called “Preferential Attachment”, describes the idea of using small improvements to scale progress over time. The power of compounding effects makes long-term investments possible, whether in finance, marketing, or personal self-development. It’s the result of compounding effects, a concept best known from interest and described by Warren Buffet as the strongest force in the universe. The Pareto Law is everywhere: investments, technology, time, efficiency, and risks. How the Pareto Principle applies in our lives 20% of bugs cause 80% of crashes (according to Microsoft in 2002).20% of the population transmits 80% of STDs.20% of health care patients use 80% of healthcare resources.80% of revenue comes from 20% of customers.20% of training exercises deliver 80% of the results. The term “Pareto Principle” was brought to the business world in 1940 by Joseph M Juran, a quality engineer who applied the principle to business and sparked the idea for the Six Sigma process. Instead it was more of a "social arrow" – very fat on the bottom where the mass of men live, and very thin at the top where sit the wealthy elite.” Benoit Mandelbrot in "Τhe Mystery of Cotton" Society was not a "social pyramid" with the proportion of rich to poor sloping gently from one class to the next. When he plotted the data on graph paper, with income on one axis, and number of people with that income on the other, he saw the same picture nearly everywhere in every era. What he found – or thought he found – was striking. He gathered reams of data on wealth and income through different centuries, through different countries: the tax records of Basel, Switzerland, from 1454 and from Augsburg, Germany, in 1471, 14 contemporary rental income from Paris personal income from Britain, Prussia, Saxony, Ireland, Italy, Peru. That’s also how he found the famous principle: “ The gulf between rich and poor has always been part of the human condition, but Pareto resolved to measure it. In fact, the Pareto Index is still used today to measure income equally.Īs Economist, Sociologist, Philosopher, Vilfredo was particularly interested in wealth distributions and how people came to power. He also drove the change of economics from a branch of philosophy to a data-driven field of research and mathematical equations. Pareto did more than “just” discover a phenomenon that’s still very relevant today. The Pareto Principle was invented by the Italian Vilfredo Federico Damaso Pareto (1848-1923) in 1906 and also called “80/20 rule”, meaning 80% of the outcome coming from 20% of the input.

While we’re on the topic of buttons, the new MX Master 3S has almost no click sound at all. The thumbwheel is perfect for switching between desktops - something I do a lot, which would occupy two slots on the Razer meaning, effectively, the MX Master 3S has one more spare button in this setup. The net result is that I found the MX Master 3S slightly more configurable for my use cases. In reality, two of Razer’s “buttons” are side-clicks on the scroll wheel - typically these default to sideways scroll, the same as Logi’s thumb dial does. The MX Master 3S is a close second (7) but has the advantage of a second scroll wheel near the thumb. Of this trio, the Pro Click offers the most configurable buttons (8). In practice, I found the MX Master 3S to last the longest, but also needing a charge way sooner than its 70 days claim, in my experience it’s more like every 5-6 weeks. It’s hard to know whether those are active use or “the mouse is on and it’s on your desk.” The better news is that all of them can be charged while you use them. Microsoft’s Surface Precision is listed as “up to 3 months” which I somehow read with an implied shrug on their part. The latter is the hardest to quantify thanks to how each manufacturer likes to define “time.” For Logi’s MX Master 3S it’s “70 days.” Razer on the other hand touts the Pro Click as lasting between 200 and 400 hours depending on whether you use their USB dongle or Bluetooth respectively (that’s 8-16 “days” but it’s not clear if this is “in use”). All of them cost $100 and all of them meet my basic requirements of decent ergonomics, configurable buttons and solid battery life. I looked at all three of these, and honestly, there’s not a lot in it. Since we first published this guide, Logitech has released the MX Master 3S which improves on the already popular device with a sharper sensor and quieter buttons. You might see a few mentions of others - like the Razer Pro Click and Microsoft’s Surface Precision mouse - but the reviews are clear that the MX 3 Master is the one. Google around for “the best PC mouse” or "the best productivity mouse" and you’ll find one answer: Logitech’s MX Master 3. Enter, the story I thought I’d never write: An 11-way PC mouse shoot out. I also wanted to see what a modern productivity mouse can offer beyond those requirements as, who knows, maybe there’s something I never knew I wanted or I have the sudden urge to get into Dota 2. It’s not a big ask but I soon learned there was always some mental bargaining going on trying to find the best balance. I am trying to lose as many cables as I can, so the longer I can go between charging/without a cable around, the better. I don’t need to pull off several complex gaming moves I just want to have things like volume control or the ability to switch between desktops at my fingertips. Second: I want something that is reasonably configurable. Given my RSI was exclusively in my mousing arm, I figured there’s a good chance ergonomics were to blame. The Magic Mouse is… fine, but a little low profile for my palming style. The requirements for my top picks? Fairly simple, but a little more than just something I can comfortably click links with. It turns out that productivity mice are still a largely off-the-shelf affair, but I was determined to get through some of the more promising options and find something I could live with, possibly for another decade. Also, as a recent convert to the world of mechanical keyboards, I was hoping there was a similar world of boutique, bespoke options. Not to mention, since the advent of devices such as the Stream Deck and the Loupedeck Live I have developed a taste for physical, assignable controls. Not least of all, I wanted something that I could charge and use at the same time - the temerity, I know. My old Magic Mouse could have made the move from MacOS to Windows, but I was already negotiating some pretty bad RSI and the internal battery was starting to waiver. But if, like me, you spend at least eight hours a day with your hand on one, they’re more important than we give them credit for. In my country internet connection is either kinda expensive but slow speed, or ridiculously expensive but mid high speed.īut yeah, even if truly high speed but cheap internet is available, I'd still opt to just build a PC or buy a laptop. Why? because doing so I'd own the parts I bought, and not to mention I don't need to rely on internet to play a game. With local ISP Pentanet handling hosting duties to ensure low latency today comes word of new subscription tiers, alongside some impressive stats. So if you upgrade now, you may find yourself suffering from buyers remorse come the fall. If I pay the service long enough pretty sure I will be able to afford even a high end monster laptop. GeForce NOW is NVIDIAs cloud gaming service that lets you play the games you own on PC (from a huge list of supported titles), over the cloud with RTX On features enabled. If you’re desperately searching for an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 or trying to spec-up a new pre-built PC. I prefer to just use the money to build a PC. PS: I didn't buy a gaming laptop due to component upgrade constraints.Įh well, while it has it's uses. I plan to test this service for a couple months and if everything turns out fine, I might just give my pc to my parents NVIDIA has revealed that 60 PC titles will be added to NVIDIA GeForce NOW over the course of October. I find it incredible being able to play anywhere on any device, at high / ultra settings. Well a couple days ago I came across "GeForce Now" and I've been testing it, so far so good. I work remotely and whenever I have to move its such a headache moving my desktop pc. Please move my thread if it doesn't fit here, I didn't know where to create it. NVIDIA’s GeForce Now service offers three tiers for subscribers, but what if you’re on the free tier and you want to upgrade Not to worry. In a world where a 60 series graphics card alone is $400+ I can definitely see the value in just paying $10 a month and dealing with a gaming experience that isn't 100% perfect. Now, even given all these issues I still think cloud gaming services can provide killer value for the right user. Another potential issue is latency which can be brutal in some genres (fighting games for sure) or something you barely notice after a minute or so in others. You're also reliant on a constant internet connection to game which can be really annoying for some use cases (gaming away from home in particular). I'd be pretty sad if I wanted to go back to an old game after a few years only to find my save file had died with the streaming service. Often you can't download your save data (not positive if this is the case with GeForce Now), which is especially annoying given the fact that these services can be discontinued at any time (see Luna and Stadia). That being said, there are more than a few things about it that aren't ideal. I'm not familiar with GeForce Now specifically but I've heard good things. Then, stream the custom demo on your existing membership plan. Simply open the GeForce NOW app on your PC or Mac and launch the GeForce NOW KovaaK’s Ultimate challenge. There's a lot to really like about cloud gaming services. If you didn’t pre-register, you’ll need to play through the GeForce NOW KovaaK’s Ultimate challenge at least once with a free or Priority membership.
